What's up? My cousin just got an 04 f350 with the 6.0. He has an oil leak and took it to a mechanic (not a diesel mechanic) and he said it was the rear main seal. I don't know much about the 6.0, but am leery about the analysis knowing these fords can leak from hpop or some where up top and leak down. Is it common for the rear main to leak on these?
If I recall correctly it is almost never the RMS. tell the mech to look again, or take it a mech that KNOWS the 6.0. not just a mech that knows diesels
lots of these have a bellhousing drip that just hangs there.
My truck was making oil getting alittle high leval. drippen off the bell housing seeping from bedplate. once I fixed the making oil issue and kept the truck at the right leval everything dryed up and went away.
Im not saying that he is making oil just the oil leval alittle high will have issues
And theres a few things that could leak Oil uptop and will show an oil leak right where your buddys does
Start looking clear uptop at the Oil Filter housing and work your way back
It leaks bad enough to leave a 3 inch spot on he driveway. He just got the truck 3 weeks ago and I see him often since he mows my neighbors yard but I haven't popped the hood since he told me it was leaking. I did see the spots where he parked though haha.
He took the truck to a guy that is a good mechanic just not a diesel mechanic, If I had a British car that's who i'd see so he must know oil leaks lol.
