Wiring 101
#16
Who don't love a sexy tool? I've been called one myself from time-to-time!
Soon after I started used the ratcheting release models I was in Quality Control where part of my duties were overseeing wire connections. Along with proper maintenance of the tools themselves the whole science of crimping was taught by different manufacturers. While there might have been a semi-selfish interest in steering us away from the original Burndy Hy-Tool once crimping was better understood there was no going back. In fact the company allowed me to ban their use in anything that would carry a UL label. I should have kept those tools I had to confiscate!
There's certainly a place for each type but I carry the ratcheting style daily, never without!
Thanks for taking time to post this Tater----its useful even just as a reference for those about to begin an electrical project.

Wow,
I know this is a super old thread and I hope you haven't left the forum USArmyTaterness!
I am a complete electrical idiot and this is going to help me immensely!
thanks for taking the time. I am going to tackle wiring a winch which is bed mounted, this or next weekend depending on the girlfriend's plans for me. This thread is now saved for easy reference. He11, I'll probably print all the info before I begin!
Cheers!
PS, Electrical training doesn't expire does it? LOL
