I'm in the process of changing my glow plug relay and don't know where the wires connect. The new Napa relay has an I and an S on it where the small wires go. There is a red wire and a purple wire with a red stripe. The old relay doesn't show anything to identify what they were and the manual I got online shows a plug instead of two individual wires. Can anyone help me sort this out?
I'm thinking it doesn't matter which lug the large logs go on. Is that correct?
Yeah basically the two wires just turn on the relay. One has to be hot, the other has to be to ground in order to complete the circuit and make the relay come on. If you want to get really technical there is a right and wrong way to connect it, but the bottom line is that it will work either way.
In case you're the "type A" personality and will lie awake at night worrying that your GPR is connected backwards and is causing a disturbance in the force, here is a picture:

Which relay did you get from NAPA? GPR109 is the one you should be using. I used a NAPA relay years ago and I don't remember it being labeled that way. The reason I'm asking is because a starter relay looks the same but is grounded through the case and on a GP relay the ground is supplied by the PCM. There's just something about that "I" and "S" that makes me think of a starter relay.
I'm a reformed type "A" personality. I haven't cared in 5 months now....applause!!! I put it in and it worked.....that's all I care about. I don't have the box any more....it's already in the trash and taken off to the dump. Okay, so I'm **** about the garbage.....boooos I got the Napa part number here and it was GPR109 and that's what he gave me.
On a low note the check engine light just came on in my Porsche Boxter S. You think these trucks are expensive to maintain try one of these. It's like the national debt!!!!

Glad to hear it is working. I have the opposite problem, it seems the older I get the closer I am to becoming a type A personality.
And yeah I know what you mean about the Porsche...that's why (okay so that's only one very minor reason why -- other than the fact that I am broke and can't afford one) I don't drive one.
Better watch that!!! You might end up in a retirement community with hundreds of "A" type personalities......and that's not pretty!!!
The Porsche's are really quite affordable used. I got an '02 Boxter S which is the HP version five years old with less than 50k miles on it for $21k in 2009. 0-60 in 5.5 seconds with a top speed of around 165 mph. It ain't your mama's Miata that's for sure!!
