Two Questions

I have a 2006 F-350 6.0 Diesel. Today my check engine light came on and when I scanned it, the code was P0112. I see in looking at previous posts that it may be the mass air flow sensor. It happened about 2 months ago and I cleared it. Since the check engine light has come on and off a couple of times and stayed on for the past two days. What should I do to fix this?

Second, when my truck sits in the garage over night I go out to start it and when I turn it over after the glow plug light goes off, sometimes it doesn't do anything. If I turn the key back it sometimes starts hard. It happens infrequently and the last time it happened I checked my batteries with a voltage meter and they read fine. Any ideas?

Is the sensor right after the air filter FULLEY Plugged in??????????

and what do you mean by saying when you turn key it does NOTHING ?? The starter willNOT engauge or it turns over but wont START & RUN???

check FICM Voltage and batterys (MUST BE LOAD TEST both batterys separatly) and alternator output
these trucks are very ELECTRONICALY CONTROLLED so good solid power is a MUST along with Gauges are a Must too

stick around lots of great info with really great bunch of guys to help ya here check out the tech folder top of the main thread page in the 6.oL forum

Thanks for the welcome and response. I looked at the sensor after the air filter and it is fully plugged in. Is the MAF sensor different than the Intake Air Temp Sensor? I just bought some MAF cleaner and I am going to clean it today. Based on this code I'm wondering if I need to replace the IAT sensor.

On the second problem...in the morning only, after I've let the glow plug cycle, I turn the key over to start the truck and irregularly you can hear the starter engage and begin to start the truck then everything goes totally dead (no starter noise, odometer screen goes black) for a short time. Short in like 1-3 seconds at most. Then, everything comes back on, you can hear the starter engaging again but it seems like there isn't as much electrical power as when the process started. The truck starts and it doesn't happen again to the following morning. One other note. Recently all this has been happening and I get lots of smoke from the exhaust until the engine warms up, then it reverts back to how it usually is. I was just guessing that it may be a dirty MAF sensor that is causing the thick black smoke.
