Hello everyone, my father in law was looking over my truck and pointed out that there is no ignition control unit/module on the distributor. (I can see an empty space and 2 screwholes where it would go.) He claims he doesn't think it would run without that but it seems to run fine.

I have a 1996 7.5l motor with SEFI if that makes any difference. I tried searching the forums but couldn't find any information, maybe I just fail :P.

If anybody more knowledgeable then myself and my father-in-law could help I would greatly appreciate it.

 

Ford moved the TFI(ignition) module to the fender sometime around 1992-93 to combat a heat failure problem, it should be near the drivers side hood hinge mounted in a heatsink.

 

Thanks, ill go check for it now before I have to head in to work. My father-in-law was just staring blankly with his mouth agape at the empty spot where it would've been mounted on the distributor, what a silly dinosaur he is :P

 

At least he didn't take the dist cap off & look for the points!
