Stock distributor?

I thought I had posted this earlier, but it seems to have disappeared!

Can you tell me if this is the factory stock distributor? The parts guy gave me an entirely wrong cap today. I need to know what I'm asking for! 1985 300 cu. 6. Thanks!

I can't find 'em, either!

Ya know what happens to me sometimes is that I'll Preview a post I'm intending to make but then get distracted and never actually post it.

You have a TFI distributor. The Autozone site lists two options "Module Mounted on Distributor" and "With Remote Module."

Make sure you hold their hand through the process and make sure you get the TFI cap. (Module Mounted on Distributor) not the Duraspark cap. (With Remote Module/Fender Mounted Module). Look at the pictures when they pull it up on the computer. The cap you need is mounted by screws, the one you got is mounted by clips.

Thanks very much guys! Someday I will get smart enough I can help someone else!

Is this a good set up, or should I be looking for a Duraspark down the road?

The setup is good if all of the emissions equipment is present and functioning. If everything is there I wouldn't change it personally.

The Duraspark II will function fine without any of the emissions stuff, and is likely a little bit more reliable. I had one of those little TFI modules die for no reason on a car, just like you turned off the key. I had a Duraspark II module die too, but that was because it was 29 years old, and had developed a crack. I pressure washed the engine and everything under the hood and that messed it up. It still ran but would backfire out the exhaust and intake.

This is missing what I believe is the air pump. When I got the truck, it had no belt on it, and was locked up tight. Think I should get a replacement?

It would be best if the air pump was operational. Without it, the rearmost catalytic convertor [the 4.9L engine has two convertors] does not get the Oxygen needed to be most efficient and I have read this will lead to convertor failure.
