My truck's wheels have a negative 24 mm offset (notice the deeper dish).
My car has a positive 38 mm offset on the front (8.5" wide wheels), and a positive 44 mm offset on the rear 9" wide wheels.

A positive offset means they will stick out less. The center of the wheel is pushed further toward the outer edge.

I'm gonna learn to read someday.
You'll probably rub on the leaves and kill your turning radius. You really need a zero or negative offset if you're going to a wider wheel than stock, mainly because you're limited by the leaf springs. On newer trucks you can get away with running tighter, but on older trucks you have to move outwards. Too far out and you need more lift to clear the tires.

Check out this link. I know its an excursion but will give you maybe an additional look for 17 X 8 rims with 285's on. If you read through the link. he raised it a little. The amount that he raised it is equal to the stock height of my 2009. Even if you do not want to raise yours. The set up would still work with no rub. The rims are 0 off set with 4.5 back space, which is ideal for the tire size. Just read through the link.

Man those look sweet. I cannot help much with the offset questions you have on your year of truck. Have you gotten other info to help? Mine are 9" with -12 and stick out 1 1/2" in front and 1" in the rear. Good luck you'll like them . Beware the center caps they can be a little fragile with the allen screw type like mine.
