Replacement Tailgate

you forget to tighten down the ball and drove up on the trailer ramps? I might have done that once...or twice 
I've found several 08+ style on eBay for $800-1,000. The 99-07 are cheaper, but you don't get the nifty writing on the tailgate.
Junkyards have always been a good choice for me. I've replaced smashed up panels in vehicles for a few hundred to get the whole job done.
Haven't always been so lucky getting the proper colors though. For something as small as a tailgate though, you can get it painted for $200-300
edit: btw, I've heard that the 99-03 F-150 has the same tailgate. It looks the same to me. I'd test fit one before spending the $$$. Would be a shame to lose the "Superduty" writing though

Well, this will be a long shot, but I sold my blue '08 tail gate to a local body shop when I installed a lift gate. That was in May '08 when it was brand new. He didn't have any particular use for it at the time, just took it because it was a good deal for him. If you want to give him a ring, call Joe Livers at Livers body shop in Bardstown, Ky.
