Trans as it sits will not fit. As far as the other stuff, you will need to swap EVERYTHING in the engine bay from the donor truck.

Yes, everything, including the wiring, radiator, engine stands, possibly front cross member, possibly front springs, driveshaft(s), it'd be a big deal to do.

I am not sure you could just swap the bellhousing. I believe I am correct in saying the diesel and 460 trannies had a different/large spline count in the input shaft, but check this to make sure.

Could you use a diesel/460 clutch disc? Maybe, but it may be too large for the 351w clutch, unless they made a large diameter clutch for it. This could all work, but there is a lot of things that need to be checked. Your first stop should be the a parts store online like rockauto or autozone. Look up the clutch parts between the two different trucks, and see if any are the same, and sometimes autozone lists the spline count on their clutch discs and kits. You also need to make sure the pilot bushing in the end of the crank is the same.

Of course you will need to change the motor mounts and stuff like that. But you have the donor there, so everything should swap over.

I'm with John, whats wrong with the 6.9L? Maybe you can pick up a running 6.9L or 7.3L cheap for it?

If you have the HEI Dist, extend the oil pressure sender's wire to reach the sending unit on the 351 and extend the fuel shut off sol's wire to the dist cap if needed but it'll probably reach and SHOULD be able to supply enough power.

I would change the rad support over so the rad fits properly and you don't have air bypassing around it due to the much wider opening for the Diesel rad as well. (Could cause cooling problems)

the 6.9 just went bad. I am not knocking on diesels i just dont care much for it and the gas engine is strong and for me just easier to work on i will check on the trans stuff. I have a 5 speed for a 351w 4wd. Is that a hard conversion or will it go in place of the 4spd.

Smile f350 351c swap

Hi i have just replaced my 6.9 idi in my 1985 Dually.
I used a 351c and c6 auto parts and brackets from a 1981 f100.{ Australian f100 }
Pretty easy the only problems was new exhaust and front half of the driveshaft and a short oil filter.

Smile air compressor bracket

Has anyone got an idea to mount a FS6 /Nippon compressor to a 351 cleveland engine.

You guys over there had the 351c for many years, though I don't know how late. We only had the 351c in the very late 60's and very early 1970's. So the only compressor mount we had was for the large tecumseh compressor. But a lot of those old large compressor mounts were just flat on top, they may be a good start for a custom bracket. The 351m/400 we had over here ran later and is very much related to your 351c, but still not late enough to pick up that modern compressor you want to use. And the 351m/400 had a taller deck so those brackets would probably not fit your engine anyway.

I'd just drop a used 7.3 IDI in. Would be a nice upgrade.
