Well turns out my 4x4 trans had some BIG issues, besides not having reverse.
The case was cracked all the way around where the output shaft exits the case, reverse clutches were toast, and suspended metal shavings inside the torque converter...
So, $3k later it's back on the road and better than ever! Local trans shop got me a good used case, upgraded hydraulics, upgraded clutches, Sonnax Sure Cure shift kit, some upgraded hard parts, and a triple disc billet converter! And a 3 year nationwide warranty.
This thing shifts nice! Very firm, quick shifts but not too harsh and TC lockup is a LOT better. I used to have trouple getting traction when the road was wet, now I'm having trouble when it's dry! lol
And as you can all probably guess, my wife is just THRILLED about all this!
I'm super happy for ya evan. Youve been talking about getting that 4x4 done since I joined up. That thing is a bad **** now. Now tell her that the modding is finally done and all there is now is maintenance and wouldn't you know it, my hpop is getting weak but theres this company, terminator, that rebuilds them for a really good price.
You shouldn't have to worry about that for a while now. what's next?
Nothing big for a while... just maintenance and replacing old/weak parts as needed.

Yeah, definately need to get our savings built back up and get the rest of the Escape paid off before anything else is done to my truck... only owe another $2400 on the Escape and our next payment isn't due until October 2013!

I know! It's about time I got it done! Yeah, she asked me what else I really wanted to do to it and I mentioned the HPOP.
I'm pretty happy with the power it makes now and I don't want to go totally overboard with it and make it unreliable. I'm thinking an intercooler, electric fuel, D66 turbo, maybe stage II's eventually... and get an LSD or lockers in the diffs. I'd be happy with that.
My ultimate goal is to have a good running, strong, dependable truck that can tow, get me around the woods, and smoke a few hondas at the track every once in a while... lol
