Yep, love ours. Nice size, comfortable, safer than her Cobalt. We have AWD and the 3.0 V6 in ours. That 200hp is quite nice, and gets about 26-28 mpg highway, closer to 20-22 in town.
My first choice was a diesel Excursion but my wife said it was too big, second choice was an Exploder, but they get worse mileage than our trucks do...

Our 2010 only has 23k on it, but we've got the V6 AWD or auto 4x4, whatever they want to call it. Not quite as good of mileage, but that 3.0 sure screams!
You guys ever consider the hybrid? That's the one my daughter wants.
I did a comparitive research paper about the hybrid vs. 4-cyl model Escapes... basically, you pay $10k more for the hybrid, it would take you over 10 years to make up the cost in fuel savings, they both have the same gas motor which costs $3,500 to replace, but the hybrid also has the electric motor and battery packs which would cost over $10k to replace if they go out after the warranty.
In short, save the money and get the 4-cyl instead of a hybrid. The mpg's they say the hybrid gets aren't very accurate...
We have taking ours to Brason and gatlingburg in the mountains and it does great. The downhill assist is great in the mountains. The only thing I don't like is you can't get rear disk brakes but I got all the part off a early model and swapped em out
These little 4cyl. engines now days are pretty powerful little engines. In most cases the HP rating for the V6's aren't as much more than the 4cyl.'s as you'd think, but they do have more torque. I don't know what the Escapes are rated for. We looked at Escapes in '07 when we traded my wife's car in, but she liked the room in the Edge so that's what we got. I liked the Escapes though......look tough with a little lift and over-sized tires!
Yeah, my wife has forbidden me to modify the Escape... We looked at the Edge, but didn't like the interior layout or the cargo space shape in the back, plus they cost more.

I liked the Escape better myself. It's smaller, but I liked the looks of it better than the Edge. The Edge is ok though. Five years and it's starting to grow on me.LOL! That's what she wanted, and if Mama ain't happy.....ain't nobody happy! It didn't make any difference to me, as long as it was a Ford. I'm trying my best to convince her she needs a truck, but it's not workin!
We needed something big enough to fit our dogs in the back (one 40 pounds, one 65 pounds). The Edge just didn't quite cut it...
We got good Husky Weather Beater floor liners for both seat rows and the cargo area, as well as neopreme seat covers. Spendy, but well worth the added protection, and the seat covers even look factory!
