i just changed 2 injectors and it runs well but sometimes when i crank it when its cold it takes 2 times to crank..also when i get on it it hesitates for a second and then takes off and also its only getting 11 miles to a gallon...any ideas
when its cold start it up and feel around all exhaust uppipes for leaks
any leaks will cause your issues
not to many things to check without gauges or scanner
might want to invest in a scangaugeII 160.00 from autozone or www.scangauge.com
another option is go to autozone or oreilys and have them check for codes its free at those places worth a shot I guess
Its such a presision Machine gotta have something to check things with Iv bought a few code readers and a ScanGaugeII and they have all paid for themselves over time by the money I save from being able to do the work
to the OP, maybe when u update to the blue spring for ur FPR, u can experience a little more giddy up and go, and it'll be easier on ur FICM too. fuel pressure is gonna be more even too.
like wat scotty said too, it may be the FICM as well.
i agree wif the guys. we wont know until we get some indication. borrow a scangauge 2 but have it scanned for possible codes. we'll all chime in to help u out.
i dont see it being the ficm because thats not what it does when it goes out...its not a bad lagging its just a little when you get on it.
I disagree with you here. It could be the FICM. They can be flakey cold and then work when warmed up.
The Tech Folder shows how to check the FICM voltages w/ a DVOM (KOEO, cranking, 2000 rpm). Check it when the engine is cold and when the ambient temp is at its coldest.
After checking that, if it proves to be OK, then I would look at the injectors. If you have no scan tool, then take it to a dealership or competent shop, and have them test the injectors.
One thing you don't tell us is whether or not you have any modifications and/or are running a tuner. Bad programming can cause what you are seeing also.
Edit:
Based on the thread linked below, where you described a loud "pop", the boost or exhaust leaks sound likely. They are hard to find sometimes. Never saw a post where you resolved this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11457675
This thread made it sound like your turbo is sticking and needs some cleaning (or maybe even more work than that - say a unison ring, etc).
Also, you previously posted about your FICM (several times) and you mentioned your voltages in one of the past threads, but you didn't say if it was on a cold engine (which is inportant). Also, since FICMs are computers, they have a VARIETY of ways they can fail - not just bad voltage. Ultimately you may need to find a good FICM to install as a test. I assume that these threads were never resolved either: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10884622 https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10876448
