Lets see your dash

So I wanted to upholster my dash in leather

Now my upholsterer says its going to look like crap cus its so big & the leather wont stick well to the plastic

He suggests I die it black or track down a black one on ebay

So no pimping leather dash or door skins for that matter

So what have you guys come up w to make your dash better looking ?

Heres mine so far, getting fuse box panel & glovebox done in black alcantara at least

Your upholsterer sounds like he lacks creativity. scuff it with rough grit sandpaper use some good adhesive (3m makes several that would be appropriate, their headline adhesive works well) and you should have no problem wrapping it in a leather look vinyl. Genuine leather is harder to wrap on something like the superduty dash due the recesses where the trays are on the dash. You would really have to cut and stitch pockets in the leather for those. A faster alternative would be to fill the pockets with expanded foam then shave and sand it down level with a long block before wrapping. That would give you a smoother dash anyway. I don't think they made a black dash for the excursions, seems like they are all tan or grey, but not sure about the super duties.

I'm not quite sure why you want black, it doesn't go well with grey in my opinion, unless youre gonna redo the whole thing in black.... and that would be a lot of work.

It seems like a lot of work to pull the dash anyway.
