I've recently had a random problem where my truck decides it wont try to start. All the light/gauges come on but when I turn the key after the WTS light turns off nothing happens. No gauges or lights turn off. Starter doesn't spin. Nothing. I can wait 5 mins and try again and it'll crank right up like nothing is wrong. Anybody have any ideas? I'm thinking it could possibly be a bad ground to the starter but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem. And it usually does it after I've been driving for a while but again does it at random times and will start shortly after.
Had this happen last year. Somewhere in this forum is a thread about the starter selenoid up on the passenger fender under the hood. I jumped it there a few times, then went to Long Island Truck parts and bought the replacement for $12. Mine is a late 99. Good luck. Chris
Never tried starting in neutral but would move it through the gears on occassion to make sure it was in park. Ill check those screws as well. Has some slop in it but all f250s or even older fords in general I found had about the same amount of slop in the steering column.
Tighten those screws and the slop will be gone. I did my 2000 and then bought the 2001 and could not even find the gear i wanted until i tightened the screws.
