82F100SWB is right,the conv has to stay seated/engaged on the trans or you risk damage to the front pump.If the conv can't spin freely then it's hung up and you'll have to back the trans off a bit.If I recall you can put a straight edge on the bellhousing face and the converter should be in 1 1/4 " to the flat NOT the studs.Then you know that it's seated.
