hey guys, having problems during acceleration between 40-50mph. Try steady acceleration and it feels like engine starts cutting out and vehicle bucks violently. What's up? Anyone have a clue?
When I had my '04 Lariat 4x4 I had a problem similar. It was intermittent. Didn't happen all the time but felt like running on 4 cylinders or something bucking. Come to find out mine was a relay problem. The '04 didn't have a shroud over a component (solenoid) on the left side (if you're facing the front of the vehicle under the hood). Replaced IWE solenoid since 4x4 high wasn't operating per TSB 06-8-15. Actually, 4x4 was operating fine but it would get wet and short out and cause this crazy bucking. Costs from buying the part from Ford parts dept. and doing the replacement myself (which was easy as hell) was $25.63 at around 77k miles. Here was my initial entry in my ford service history before finding this TSB. "Moses to check violent vibration at 40-65 mph. Had truck 3 days but could not identify the problem." Good luck. Hope this is all it is and if so, you'll see how simple a fix it was for Ford to design an "awning" on this plastic part vs. the original equipment part.
