> I’m at the stage of painting the interior of my 55 F100 prior to finishing dash wiring, etc., and would like to go with an original blue. I like pictures of the 1955 Banner Blue, so I went to my local Sherwin Williams auto paint store with the listed code of 7992 from PaintRef.com and they pulled up a Banner Blue Metallic-2008. At the DuPont auto paint store, they couldn’t find the PaintRef.com numbers but did come up with a code BM557, also as Banner Blue Metallic. Did the original 1955 Ditzler PPG paint come as a metallic? I wouldn’t have thought so and looking at the old color charts on-line they all say Banner Blue Poly. I would prefer to use a non-metallic , so as anyone painted their truck Banner Blue and has a paint code? I’d also be interested in any similar shade non-metallic blues that might have a more modern paint code. Thanks.<o

I think the BM557 is from DuPont's Spectra Master catalog...the BM would indicate blue metallic. If you like that color, they should be able to match it from the same Spectra Master book but the code number for a "solid" would be BSxxx.
Hope this helps.
Further noticed in some cross reference info that Rinshed-Mason (R-M) listed the 1955 color as Banner Blue Irid. (iridescent...as in metallic). The R-M code FWIW is 255F22. Now I'm really unsure about metallic being used in '55! The Ditzler reference definately says poly but the R-M says Irid. Still think the DuPont folks can match it either way BMxxx or BSxxx.
