Great reads there, 4-inch. Money I thought I needed to spend on a hpop, just might be for clutch now, and be done with it. Like someone mentioned, get in there only once, and be done, cuz its a heavy pig.

Links perfect Neal...thanks. some assurance with Whim stating...very easy job. In 1pic, looks like its the infamous clutch fork? If so, is that replacable with trans still intact?

As far as Transmission jacks I have one of these Torin Big Red Transmission Adapter for Hydraulic Jack, Model# TRE2001 | Jacks | Northern Tool + Equipment what a life saver. Uses a regular 3ton floor jack.

Also if you have one of these Motorcycle Jack / ATV Lift - 1500 Lb. Capacity sitting around I here they work really well too.

No, I believe the Pilot bearing is on the end of the trans shaft when it go into the crank shift, It keeps it alined. You install it in the crank. Throwout bearing is on the fork, it presses on the pressure plate.

Bonanza, so the pilot bearing is behind the rear main seal, on the motor!! This "project" sounds like its goin south

Deluxe, the ATV stand would be a good "universal" stand, considering i got a few quads here.

No, it's in the end of the crankshaft that bolts to the flywheel. You can replace it with the transmission out.

Haven't pulled one out on the 7.3 but it is really like bushing. The end of the out put shaft goes in it. They usually don't go pad unless you have trans problems. Thowout bearing should always be replaced with new clutch install.

Found another thread exactly to whats goin on with mine (here). Can the inspection plate be removed w/out draining the trans or needs draining? Think i shouls stop messing around and make sure/see whats goin on in there..debris..etc. Not sure i want the trans split, if its the pilot bearing, or whatever bearing ,that then, can take out the input shaft...

pilot bearings job is to support & alighn imput shaft from trany to the center of crankshaft of engine. the throwout bearings job is to diengage your clutch by depressing the fingers on your pressure plate .
