ZF6 noise

When at idle, the trans makes this sound, best way to describe it, is...put sand in a metal coffee can and shake the sh%$ outta it. HOWEVER it goes away when i depress the clutch pedal. Any ideas of what i'm in for? thanks guys.

Clux, is that the "throw-out" bearing, or the bearing located on the "input shaft" bearing?

I'm also thinking its also related to the "wind thru pipe" sound thread i have goin on...

The pilot bearing or bushing is in the end of the crankshaft and aligns the input shaft on the transmission with the crankshaft.

The throwout bearing usually (initially) makes noise only when you depress the clutch when they are going bad.

I wanna say it started after the turbo went and revved high. Since, its verb little worse, but recently just heard the sand in can noise. This throwout bearing, can it be assessed with trans out?

If you can afford it I would suggest replacing the clutch while you have the tranny out unless its fairly new. I've put 3 clutches in my truck and trust me that tranny is HEAVY and a pain to move around, you dont want to do it any more than you have to.

And if you don't change the whole clutch, change the throw out bearing to at least.
