250/350 differance

We have been over the suspension differances but what is the differance in tires. What about pressures and tire pressure sensor settings. Since a 250 carries less weight then the pressures dont have to be as high.My 350 has 10000 lb gvwr instead of 11500, or something . I should be able to run lower pressure and have a lower sensor setting. My truck is empty most times. Id like to run 50 psi but dont want to set off alarms. I ran 50 in my 04 and had great results.

As far as I can tell, tires and tire pressures are the same between the two. 65fr, 80rr but realisrtically you can run much lower w/o setting off the alarms.

I've run as low as 60fr 70rr w/o any issues. I would think running 50 all the way around would trip the buzzer though.

Why would you want to run at lower pressures? Never heard of this, just curious

lower tire pressures (in the 50-65 psi range) generally give a more comfortable ride for every day driving versus the higher pressures (80 psi) needed for towing and hauling.

TPMS are sussposed to trip at anything below 62psi

I'd lower your pressure to 63 psi and drive around for a day. If the TPMS trips, Just re-inflate the tires to 80psi and drive around the block to reset them, then lower it to 64 psi or what ever your next guess is that you want to try.

It's my understanding that the TPMS sensors are set to go off when the pressure is less than 75% of the recommended pressure. I like to run my tires at a lower pressure when unloaded. I also like to run the rears at a lower pressure than the fronts because there is less weight on them. To accomplish this I re-trained the trucks computer so that it thinks the front tires are on the back and the backs on the front. I've also found that running them at 80% of recommended will sometimes set off the TPMS sensor so I am now running them at 85% of recommended and have had no issues.

I'll also add that Michelin is ok with running the stock tires at less than the ford recommended pressures.

Just get your dealer and have them lower the setting that your TPMS alarm goes off at. It's a dealer programmable setting in the truck's computer.

Running lower pressure while unloaded helps your tires wear more evenly too. I really don't vary the front pressure so much but the back I run at 65 unloaded rather than the 80 on the sticker. Just don't forget to get back to recommended pressure before loading. Might as well get that on board air, your always ready.

I thought that 2011+ the 250s and 350s were the same 65fr/80rr which is different than the previous generations, my 08 250 was 65 fr and rr.
