need help deciding

Hey all, been awhile. I am downsizing my world from a 07 cummins mega cab to a gasser. Years ago I had a cherry 97 f-250 crew cab with a 460 and I do miss it mileage be damned. The cummins will pull anything but it doesn't meet my needs anymore. I am also considering a 99-04 f-250 with a v-10. I just need a rig that I don't have a lot of money wrapped up in that will still pull a 8000lb camper around. What you all think? 460 or v-10. I know the mileage will suck but it won't be a daily driver. Hell my cummins don't do that great on mileage anyway. (10mpg pullin 15empty 12city).

I don't have experience with a 460 but the V10 will be up to the task. 1997 was the last year of the 460 IIRC, so you're looking at a minimum 15 year old vehicle. If you could somehow score an 05 v10 in your price range you'll get the 3 valve motor with the most available power. But stick to your budget.

Yeah what he said. I dont worry about power at all specially after my tunes from 5 Star. I usually pull about the same as you described. I get about 10 MPG on average.
