Motorhome MPG--Ford 460 V10

I have a Ford 460 V10 in my motorhome. It is a 2001 model with 10,000 miles on it. I am getting an average of 7.47MPG. Any suggestions about how to increase the mileage? I usually drive between 65-70MPH. My RV weighs in around 13,000 pounds. I am considering aftermarket parts, but don't want to spend a lot of $ to get small gains that will not offset the cost of the modification. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The V10 isn't a 460, it's a 415 (6.8l). The V10 replaced the 460 as Ford's largest gas engine. I've heard of much worse mileage from RV's with the V10. It's a simple matter of both weight and wind resistance. The best way to improve your mileage would be to buy an RV with a diesel, but I'm assuming you don't want to trade it in. To improve you mileage, slow down though!

Most of the after market ad ons will not give you a good return in investment in gas millage. The V10 if you run it over 2000 RPM you will pay in MPG. Pulling my 5th wheel the differince in 65 to 75 is 2 mpg.

Banks Power Pack. Costly, you'll never recoup but oh so much fun.
