No the factory hoods on these trucks stop at the cowl just like the dentsides. I believe in fact that the bumps and dents use the same cowl and firewall. I know they use the same windshields.
Spotted this fine 79 F250 at our local car show. For the very first time I had some competition in my class. Original owner and his 70 Bumpside right next to his 79. Factory CB (Still works)
Those sure are some nice trucks he has. And those old CB's sure are pretty cool. I have one in my 78 bronco. It worked up until I parked the truck for it's rebuild. That was in late 99. Unfortunately it's still waiting. I bet if I put a good battery in truck that CB would still work though.

Yeah that's what I thought, maybe he welded them together for some reason, who knows.
Managed to get some pics of this Explorer today. I figured the owner was inside shopping, but it turns out it was one of the maintenance guys' truck who was working outside. When he saw me snap a couple pictures he was walking towards me pretty quick and said "can I help you!?", I just told him I was snapping a couple pictures cause I'm a big fan of these trucks, and he walked away. Some people are cool with it, others get furious and think I'm going to try to steal it or something. Just varies from person to person I guess. But usually people take it as a compliment around here. Oh well. Some suspicion is always a possibility when you're up close to someone else's ride. Here it is:
What a nice Uncle Jessie truck you got yourself. However I have to say I'm not sure of where in southwestern Pa you are, but I can tell you that your not looking in the right areas. I'm in Westmoreland County and I see them all the time. I just don't feel comfortable posting pics. of other peoples trucks on the net. But I do see them everywhere. I even know where a guy has about 3 or 4 79 F350 4x4's. But sad to say he won't sell them. And yes he does use them.
I know this is a very late reply, but after your comment about seeing dents all the time, I really started looking, I live in the Carnegie Area, Allegheny County, I see lots of the 1980's and newer but no dents or bumps, I think it is because it is more urban that rural, and everybody wants new... but I was determined to find atleast one other dent in my area... I finally seen one, so you are right there are dents out there, but out in the more rural areas

Wow! You hit the jackpot of Dent Spotting, that's a rare Bicentennial special addition and it looks like its in great condition.
I've been starting to think I've found all the dents in my area, but I found a few. First is two dents from today, a bumpside from a few weeks ago, a sweet old beat up Mustang I saw and the last two are pictures of dents I've already posted, but I got some better pics. Here goes
