I have a 2000 F150 that has had a damaged passenger mirror since I bought the truck (hay wired on) and finally managed to find one at an auto wrecker. The only problem is the wrecker mirror has blue backing plastic and i have a black truck. Is it possible to switch the covers or am I gonna have to try my luck painting (I don't really want to as I have very little luck painting and I don't want it to wash off)

 

Yes you can replace just the back cover. Depending on which mirrors you have depends on how many clips there are holding it on. You will have to move the mirror itself around to get to the clips.
