IPR Removal

Ok...specifically those who know the 2004 6.0, is it possible to get the IPR out without taking out the turbo? The IPR is right behind the turbo. I do not see even having to take out the FICM to get to the IPR. I can see it after taking out the air hose to the turbo and pushing aside the wiring harness, but it's back there and somewhat behind the turbo. I had some instructions to go through the FICM side and not to take out the turbo..but..wouldn't be easier to just pluck out that turbo?

If you have the ipr slotted socket get some extensions and some universals and you'll get it out.

If not pull the turbo. You can probably have the turbo out by time you go to the store and get that ipr socket

Ryan I tried to find a crows wrench no luck at NAPA they didnt have a Sloted socket either

I know Dukie got his out without turbo removal with a Crows foot wwrench he said 1 3/8 inch

Eagleman said he made that socket out of a 36mm socket he had to slot it and then grind the outside down to fit

My next thought was get a crows foot wrench at Sears they had some I didnt see the exact size but I thinken they probably have one

so I got enough tools to pull the turbo been down that road before and a big cresent wrench if all else fails I threw in a angle grinder to in case

IDK I think the crows foot wrench is the ticket so turbo dont have to come out or we can pull it

DID you get an IPR yet???

I have not picked it up yet...I was looking around for the best deal....

I did do some cleaning up in there to find where the whining sound was. It was a boot that was not fully pulled onto the turbo air pipe. That was when I was looking around to the best way to attack the IPR. I did not pull anything else apart, but will get as much pulled apart as possible. Let me know how you want to attack this.

Thanks Again!

Squirrljam,
Did you get my instructions on the removal and install of IPR? I PM'd it to you yesterday. Wish I could come out to help you and Benny but 1200 miles is too far for 1 day. If you did not get the instructs, I will send again in the morning. No turbo removal required.
