New ford AIS intake
I got a n AIS intake today at my local Ford dealer. Took of my 6637 and installed the setup. Wow! I thought I left my 38r at home. I can't believe how much quieter it is. I'm gona miss the noise of the 38r cus I kinda liked it in a way. My 10 year old daughter got in the truck and 2 minutes down the road she says, daddy your truck is so quiet what did you do? You know it's noticeable when a 10 year old notices without having any knowledge of me doing anything to my truck!

So far I like it better than the 6637. I have not driven it long enough to turn my tuner on yet, so I don't know yet how it flows at wot in 80E. I have a 38R and with the 6637 it's pritty loud. Stock turbo it was fine. After a while the 38R can get annoying with the 6637. It came with a new battery tray, a battery wrap, a restriction gage, an air intake temp sensor, air box, air tube, air filter, and hardware. For under $200 the AIS kit seems well worth it. Will see how it flows, there is still the fender sleeve if it pulls in my filter minder.

Ford AIS and 4" exhaust - this is how it breaths. Click on it and go full res to read the gauges if your bandwidth can handle it. 720p does well too.

I made my own sleeve. Got a wet vac foam sleeve at hardware store (biggest they had), and I cut an oval hole in the end of the AIS with my dremel. Stuck the foam sleeve in between the two and it works/looks good. Only costs $6 for the foam sleeve. Could wrap that foam sleeve in a paper filter for the wet vac as well and tape it in place, but mine has stayed put just fine.

I saw an early 99 a few weeks ago and I am not sure it is the same butt I believe the fender sleeve is a factory ford part on the early 99? The early 99 I saw had no tube going to the front grill area, it only took air from the fender via a simalar sleeve. Anyone have a early 99 that has that setup? Could the fender sleeve be just a factory Ford E99 part?

I would think with the 38r, the AIS isn't enough. I'm running close to 40psi with my setup (the 38r is capable of 40psi as well) and the 6637 flows nicely. The AIS been proven to filter extremely well, and is obviously very quiet. But by the same token, there have been several on here that built sheet metal boxes for their 6637 and quiets them down quite a bit as well. If you notice a drop in boost levels after swapping, you can be assured there is more restriction. My $0.02...

I queezed it a little this morning, 23-24 psi boost, no movement with the minder. I don't have the sleeve, but did cut out the side for it just in case.
