KPBJJ, I don't know why they wouldnt just replace the whole block on a lift. It is just weird to have the two blocks in there. Especially when it is only 3/4 of an inch taller than my F350 block.
I hear you but I would think it would be more likely for someone lifting it to stuff a 3" block under the factory block than for ford to have two on there from the factory. and dont the factory blocks always have that piece that sticks out to the inside like yours does? mine is just like yours just looks a little smaller 1 3/4" to be exact.
I have only done one lift kit on a truck and the kit replaced the whole block with a larger one. I remember when I had my 04 truck, there was an add a block for the F250 to make it as high as the F350. Just a weird lift I guess but it doesn't look like it is taller than my stock one. Oh well. He is good either way.
First off let me say, I am new to Diesels and not really mechanically inclined .
I purchased this truck to haul our horses and alpacas. I am looking to do a DFP/CAT delete which comes with a tuner, to make the truck last as long as it can. Will I need to put on traction bars with this setup?

IMO, If your towing heavy i would defiantly due the traction bars you wont be disappointed, the newer 08 350's ride nice but have a ridiculous amount of axle wrap towing heavy compared to the 03-07 super dutys due to the newer spring design setup, my traction bars are probably the best mod i have done to the truck so far for towing, they virtually eliminated the shudder during take offs. I would recommend precision fab or ouo traction bars, IMO the best on the market.
F250 has a 2" block from the factory (actually its a bit less than that maybe 1.75") and F350 has a 4" block (or slightly less). Both of these blocks have the bump stop landings on them(the piece off to the side that will hit the rubber bump stop when bottomed out).
Snowman, you have the stock 250 block with about a 3" block below it.
Jasfaa, you have a stock 350 block on top, and the piece below it is the same stock piece as snowman has below his 3" block...yours is stock as shipped from the factory...the bottom piece is the saddle that goes onto the axle...
Actually, there are lots of people who are adamant against stacking blocks!
Thanks Laredo. I have seen people put the F350 block into the F250 leaf spring I have just not see anyone stack them. Even the lift kits as I said earlier replace blocks but its probably how they did that kit.

Traction bars make a HUGE difference, even in mildly tuned trucks. Check out the latest Diesel Power magazine, they list as a top-10 must do on diesel trucks (even on tunes as mild as 100HP over stock).
Axle wrap/wheel hop is effectively eliminated with a good set of traction bars (PMF or OUO). They're not particularly inexpensive, but well worth it. And the higher the level/lift the more profound the effect.
I installed a set of OUOs on my buddy's '08 F350 (level w/an ICON 2.5 kit). He typically runs Spartan's 275HP tune and it makes it so smooth and effective at putting the power down it's ridiculous, especially compared to my F250 that doesn't have them...yet.
There's some great videos on YouTube showing axle wrap/wheel hop and the rear diff/pumpkin torquing so much it'll make you cringe...then they slap the traction bars on there and it hardly moves. Great mod! (Something else on my list of things to do...!)
I probably wouldnt do it on a stock truck but he has a mild lift for an F250 that has two separate blocks. With that set up I would be more concerned than on a stock truck. I agree they help on any truck but come on, I am not going to ever be on a track and if I get some axle wrap, I probably shouldnt be pushing it that hard anyway. AS for Diesel Magazine, they are supporting their advertisers with something that is a flip of a coin.

The OP's truck is tuned and lifted, making it an excellent candidate for traction bars, add in some towing on occasion and it's a no-brainer...
My buddy's had his for almost a year now and it kills me that I haven't done it yet, some many projects, so little time...and money!
Driving our trucks back to back the difference is instantly felt...and makes me hella jelly! You don't need to beat on your truck to experience axle wrap/wheel hop (but it helps!).
