Tuner and Traction Bars

First off let me say, I am new to Diesels and not really mechanically inclined .
I purchased this truck to haul our horses and alpacas. I am looking to do a DFP/CAT delete which comes with a tuner, to make the truck last as long as it can. Will I need to put on traction bars with this setup?

Oh yea... 09 F250 126K miles...

Thanks in advance

You only need traction bars if you are lifted or plan on going way over 600 hp. Since you are going to tow you are probably only going to be at 450 HP or less on a tuner so you would be fine.

Which tuner comes with the delete kit? the only two that are widely used and praised are the H&S Mini Max or Black Max tuners and the Spartan tuners. The rest of them either do not have tranny tuning along with them or they are not mirrored to the power increase very well.

Thanks for the reply.

Its going to be the mini-maxx... I do not see myself going to the "Hot" setting to much. I dont have the $$ to be messing around and getting on it.

Forgot to add that it looks like the truck had a 3 -4 inch lift kit in it.

Make sure it has one. Stock trucks can fit 35" tires and stock trucks with a front end leveling kit can fit 37" tires without a lift. In other words, they are already pretty tall.

I have the mini max and the hot setting is ridiculous. I leave it on mild and that is almost too much.

I don't think that this is a lift kit. I have an F350 with the bottom block only which is the about six inches on mine but it is a stock part. The top block you have I believe is the spacer to make it look like an F350. If anything you have a very small lift. Anyone with an F250 want to comment?

My F350 has the same blocks and it is stock in the lift area so I would disagree with you. I just dont have a F250 to compare it with. Do you have an F250 or are you just guessing because this is how cheap lift kits do the rear end?

My 2008 F250 has a small stock block maybe 2" that looks just like the top block in the picture . This is definitely a block underneath the stock block. I would like to send a pic of mine but don't know how.

and mine is just the opposite. I have the larger block and the small one on top is missing. I believe this is the F350 kit. I am adding pictures to my gallery to upuload. I actually used a tape measurer too.

ok i just crawled by big butt under there and measured that middle block it is 3" the picture makes it look taller than it is. The top block is 1 3/4"... Do you think I will need traction bars? I am just trying to figure out how I'm going to tell the "boss" with the purse that I am going to need to spend another chunk of change on more parts for this truck we have had less then a week

She was OK with the delete kits because they will help with the life of the engine.

I would say no. My block is 4". and between the rubber and the stop on the axle is 6". I have pictures of this but am having difficulty adding it to my gallery.

I measured mine and it is 1 3/4" just like the one on top if you didnt have the bottom block. I would say if the bottom block is 3" high you have a 3" lift.

I think its just the F350 block. The F350 has a taller block in the back and an extra leaf spring (3 inches) Here is a picture of a stock F350 block. You definitely have an extra block but I don't think you will need ladder bars.

Check out your front suspension to see if you have a spacer on top of your front coils or post some pics of the front to get a better idea.
