Newly Re-built Engine Problems
I still feel it may be a bad lifter. The sound is awfully loud, but I guess I won't know until I get those valve covers off and see whats going on. There needs to be some more investigation as to where the problem is, but I hope that soon I'll get it all figured out.
According to my engine shop, there are adjustable rockers out there for the FE engine. I have never heard of them, but he says they exist and and are reasonably priced.
As far as finding engine parts, my machine shop specializes in older motors and has a good source of parts. The FE is fairly common so it's not too difficult to find stuff for them. I feel your pain, Unforgiven, regarding finding parts for the 4x4. It seems that all the catalogs love to say "4x2 only". I had to have my rubber brake hoses custom made because I was unable to find new ones. I still have yet to find emergency brake cables for my truck and I'm not so sure what to do about that. Hopefully someday I'll find them. It would be nice to be able to use the emergency brake.
