Has anyone had to deal with non-standard end combinations on speedometer cable- 78 cab, 70 tranny, or selected emergency brake cables for such a combo? Is there a good way to compression splice or otherwise marry the two different ends?
Most "big" truck repair shops/parts houses should have the equipment to make the speedo ends right. I had to do this with a old mech. tach. They have quite a selection of ends that should make yours work.
As for brake ends...this might be a bit harder. You will need to get ends crimped/welded to make work. Usually this is not enough room to make changes just on the ends of these cables.
I got a semi-universal brake cable. It's a kit designed to replace several different SKU's for smaller shiops, muffler shops , etc.
the inner and outer cables are cut to length and it has an assortment of ends that clamp on. Mine had 4 feet more cable than I needed for a lifted f-250 longbox 4x4
