1997 F350 460 7.5 Missing Problem

I have a 1997 F350. In great shape. 90k miles. Was running great untill about two days ago when it started missing while I was driving. It only missed while I was running about 40mph. Seems fine when I got down on it pretty hard. Idled fine too and had no check engine light. I drove itt a few more times and noticed tht the missing just got worde till it completly quit on me. The distributor is new, the plugs are new and the plug wires are new. I changed the fuel filter today and it finally started after about 15mins of trying. Took it down the road and it did the exact same thing. Started missing and it quit again. I have no idea what else to do. Would reallly appriciate some advice. Thanks.

You mentioned you changed the distributer. Most rebuilds have bad PIP sensors because they are not tested hot. Do a search, I think there was only one brand testing the rebuilds properly.

That sounds a little strange. Mine had a slight miss too and i did a fuel filter, air filter, motocraft cap, rotor, & wires, new plugs and it isn't totally fixed but substantially improved.

I will second the above about a bad PIP sensor in the distributor.
I would keep the distributor, tare it down and put in a new PIP sensor.
I have seen on here one guy exchanged the distributor four times and got a bad one each time and then change the PIP sensor himself and had no more problems with it.

Is it possible that my timing is so off that it won't fire? It turns over great, just won't fire. I do know that the timing was never done with a light, only by ear. I don't get why all of a sudden though it won't fire. And I have checked the fuel system up and down and everything works fine.

I just pulled out a few plugs and tested for a spark. I had a great spark on all the plugs. Only thing I noticed was the plugs were dry. As much as I have been crankin on it, they should be wet. I don't think I'm getting fuel into the motor. Suggestions?

When it quits does the fuel pump run all the time the key is on?

If the fuel pumps run all the time the key is on and the engine is not running or cranking then most of the time the computer is bad.
In other words the clock is not running in the computer. Make sure you have power to the computer power pins and the computer has a good ground.

A bad clock in the computer can also be caused by bad Electrolytic Capacitors or a bad crystal.
