sct tuner

Just placed my order with 5star tuning this afternoon. Cant wait to feel the reprogrammed throttle by wire. And a couple more horsepower is always welcome to.

looks like you are an 06 Navi which should be the same motor as my 06 Expy - except I think you have the 6sp tranny. Subscribing any way to see your thoughts on it. I was gonna trade mine in on a newer one, but I think I am going to stick with it, so may have to do a few mods.

Ive had the Navigator for the last two years. So far this is the best vehicle ive ever owned. I added a magnaflow exhaust mostly because I like the v8 noise and the tuner because of the throttle by wire wierdness. Of cource I like to modify everything anyway so this is just my justification to modify. Anyway what would stop you from getting a newer truck? besides price .

not really price, found some nice 2011's with low mileage for a decent price - just not all of the options i was looking for. I would like to get out of the 4wd and in to the 6-speed tranny to try and help with gas a little, but definitely not just that. Mine has 71k on it and that is longer than i have had most vehicles (I know many people on here say that is little mileage). But, mine has been paid for for a few years now and I just had the plugs done as a precautionary measure - but little things will be coming up soon-ie keypad lights out (PIA to fix and not necessary), regulators soon, sounding like sway bar ends again. But hard to justify it for right now, it has been a great vehicle. I looked at smaller suvs, but need to feel safe when we pull the boat - and the Expy fits that bill perfectly.

will probably do the Gott's this weekend (had a Volant on my F150, but figured I would try this first) and then proabably tuner, just trying to decide how much to spend on mods, because I will probably not have it for more than another year - if I stay in it. Wife is kind of pushing me to trade it in also because it is our family vacation vehicle.

Hard to resist a newer truck I know. Have you looked at used Navigators? seem like when I was looking the price wasnt significantly more over the expedition and with a bunch more options. I started out looking for an expedtion and well.... And Im sure both trucks had the 6 speed from 07 up. I might try that intake mod also.

Just received my new tuner and downloaded the 93 octane performance tune. Only drove around for a few miles but the throttle feel is so much better. It will now squeal the tires from a dead stop. Only drawback is the tuner will not interface with the 6 speed tranny so shift points are the same. I would have liked to raise the to quicken the 1-2 shift and limit the gap. I did know about the transmission going into this though.

Can't wait to hear more results from you. Decided today to go with a newer, shinier version. Got a 2011 so will be watching to see what people say about their tuners. Thanks, Mike.

Wow congrats on the new rig. I'm sure you wont be disappointed. So far it seems like I'm getting almost 2 more mpg. using the dash a for results but I always do so at least the results are consistent. Also the throttle response from a stop is awesome and the truck doesn't need to shift out of overdrive so much. Liking it so far.

excellent feedback. I even told the salesman as I was driving the new one - damn these things really need a new engine. My 06 had 3.73 gears, I will have to check on this one, but it seems like it has a harder time getting going. Also - kind of a stupid thing, but feels like the brake pedal is higher than on my old one because I have to mash the gas pedal for entering traffic and I end up under the brake pedal. It gets the remote start added this weekend (aftermarket from Ford so i can keep just my key fobs and not have to deal with the shutting off issue when opening the door) and then will probably start doing a couple of things. I do want to run a couple of tanks thru and also unhook the negative (which they should do this weekend for the remote start) and try and clear out the 60 miles that were on it - just so the tranny adjusts to my driving habits - so far am loving it though (wife and kid are both not fond of the color, but it is mine). Thanks, Mike.

well you can tell them about the transmission cause i could have sworn that they do tune the tranny or you could just return it also could we see some 0-60 video, also you could try disconnecting the battery like mtondreo did, so your driving habits can ajaust to your new tune, just a guessed

PS. how much it cost?

The sct tuner was $400 from five star tuning.. The f series guys on here seemed to be real happy with their work. I don't have a good way to record 0-60 video but I'll ask one of the younger guys I work with about doing it with their smart phones. After reading your post I went out and did a few runs and timed it seems it averages about 8.5 the transmission is still learning my new heavy foot.
