This is a 97 Seville I got in today. The pic is an Alternator cable spliced together with a hose clamp. I could almost forgive the hack who did this but there was no tape covering it or anything, just laying there ready to short out on the engine.
Why would they need to splice it in the first place?...
Well my guess is the terminals corroded so bad they needed to replace it. The alternator is buried, and the starter is under in the intake manifold, so looks like they got one off a junk car and spliced it in, the whole car is a turd, I'm still waiting on some approvals, it's just sitting on a lift for now.
When we get Cadillacs at the lot we trade them to a salvage yard who parts them out. There is a substantial "bling" market which doesn't regard them as junk, and they pay well for parts.
