Wrecked Truck

I was driving along the highway about 50 mph and I passed out for unknown reasons, the truck left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. I'm ok! Both airbags blew and the passenger side is pretty goofed up. The insurance says it can be repaired. What should I be looking for in terms of length to repair and how the truck will be after the repair. Will it be good as new? Or will it forever be a screwed up truck.

Ouch! The end result all depends on the body shop. Ask around in your area and try ro find the best. Some will put it all back together again and others......not so much. I will guess you will be truckless for for a month or two.

Not to make light of the situation, but I've never passed out behind the wheel... I have been upside down behind the wheel though

Glad you're OK, and if the insurance company is right - the best part is you get your truck back, though with a damage history.

Glad you are ok. I fixed this truck a few years ago.. it took us over a month. Make sure you research the body shop go online and read reviews or ask around town. Ask for before and after frame specs and four wheel alignment specs. Tell them you dont want any aftermarket parts and tell them you will be picky and to tell them to tell their tech that. Be firm but not mean That should get them to do it correct. Hope that helps a little!

X2.

Worry about getting yourself fixed right first.

Lex, glad you're ok. Wonder what the speed was at impact. Good to know the truck protected its master so well.

Ouch! Glad you're okay, Tyler. Any idea why you passed out? Were you tired before that for any reason?

In the end Shane is correct, it's just a truck and they make new ones every day. The fact that you lost consciousness at 50 MPH and survived to tell about it matters much more than a vehicle that can be repaired or replaced.

You shouldn't have any problems after the repair. The frame looks tweaked to me but it should be able to be straightened or replaced if necessary, and the other damaged parts will be replaced. It should drive like a new truck when they get done with it, and if for some reason that doesn't happen make them fix it!

Wow, the most important thing is you're here to post about it so that's good.
That's painful to look at but as others said, it can be repaired or replaced.
It will take awhile for repairs but locate a well known body shop (again as others said).
It took a month to repair my '98 Explorer when I tipped it over on it's left side years ago.

I would get it repaired and drive it for awhile.
If it doesn't operate the way you remember and you would rather replace it, then you can take that route if you decide to later.

Do you know how long you were out?
If this wasn't lack of sleep related, visit your doctor.
I've blacked out a couple of times in my past for unknown reasons and doctors never could explain it.
Thankfully, never in a vehicle for me but mine were never instant; could feel it coming for a minute or two but couldn't stop it from occuring.
I've discovered myself that poor eating habits seem to contribute.

Wow, a pole at 50mph and it's fixable! Built Ford tough!

As others have said; glad to see you are ok. It is only a truck, worry about your health first. Once you advise the docs of a pass out your license may be suspended ..... At least here in Ontario it would be. Best of luck for a positive outcome.

I say get the truck fixed and trade it.
