So i got a set of second hand new headers for my 77 150. it had a big block originally but the po replaced it with an 84 460. the headers are the correct one for the truck. the driver side fit fine with a minimal amount of swear words. the passenger side is a whole nother story. the front tube is hitting the motor mount. i nees to come striaght forward another two inches. all the other angles are fine. just cant get it far enough forward. any advise other than notching the mount? thanks
I dont like the idea of cutting into a motor mount. the longer tower is on the driver side. is this correct. i didnt put the motor in. Might try loosening the mounts and wiggle it and see if i can get it then. and other ideas are welcome.
The issue isnt the disantce between the head and flange. it is that it will not slide far enough forward. the front tube is hitting the mount tower. i found a set of mounts from lmc part number 48-2092. if it is what i think it is everything should clear but they offered no help when i called and asked. anyone seeb these?
Well, I hate to be a disappointment, but from your post I think your truck is a 4x4 correct? If so then there was no trucks that left ford in 1977 that had a 460 and 4x4. Yours had a 400, 351m, or maybe a I6 but your headers are not for a 4x4 460 f150 1977 conversion. I would recommend some conversion mounts and some L&L headers. I use the chassis exit and they fit well other than gaskets 3 times a year. Your headers are for a 74-79 f100-350 pickup with a 460, factory not retrofit. As far as notching the mount, I probably would try it, if it isn't a clean one owner truck, obviously not all original, but try it and beef it back up with your welder.
