I am having surging problems on a 94 f150 4.9 standard 5 speed 2 wheel drive single cab. Fresh rebuild on motor.
Does not start well and have to rev up to get to idle after starting. When driving it runs up ok but surges pretty bad at a steady Speed.
I took to Auto Zone to get codes checked. Code 522 was the only one that came up stating it was not in neutral or park while doing this.
I came home did the self test and same thing. Does anyone know if the clutch might have to be pushed in while running these tests? It seems if it is saying not in park or neutral, and it won't start without the clutch pushed in then maybe it has to be. I had it in neutral parking brake on.
I am so lost trying to figure out why it is surging while holding the steady speed i could spit.
Also how do you check fuel pressure and where? What type guage do i need? Thanks in advance fella's.
Forget about running the KOER tests, run the Key On - Engine Off (KOEO) tests and CM display first. Once you have any issues in those tests resolved then focus on the KOER tests.
