T56 6 speed manual? What's wrong with the shifter is it too far back? That may be fixable. I'd be surprised if you have a firewall issue unless you are raising the engine way up the clear an IFS crossmember.
That's awesome! Didn't know what it was until you posted, thanks. I'm in the mkt right now for a new engine & tranny too, so I'll be watching. L8R ZFLASH
There was an article in Street Rodder recently about yote's in hot rods. They addressed several issues such as oil filter and pan clearance, etc. Might be worth getting the back issue, or the info's probably on the web. They had a pic on the cover of some 427 sohc valve covers modified to fit the new motor.
You said 400 miles on a 2012 gt before it was wrecked? Bet there's a story there. It all started with hold my beer and watch this.......

The new transmissions are MT82 made in China. Not T56 anymore.
Its 54in from front of engine to tail housing. Its also 54in from the front crossmember/radiator mount to the front of my custom cross member. Now look at how far the shifter hangs off the back. I am looking into solutions but I think once we start trying to line it up in the frame and see where we are in relationship to the cab\seating its going to be an issue. I know with the TKO 600 this is not an issue due to the 3 shifter locations and it shorter length.
I am following or have read just about every article out there on Coyote installs in numerous vehicles. I only know of 1 other that used a salvage motor and he is having the same issues I am speaking of. So I did go into this well prepared for some headaches.

It looks to me like a shifter could be built that would move the location to over the end of the tailshaft or possibly even further forwards. Ford is really pushing the yote toward the hot rod market, so they may already or shortly offer a relocated shifter.
did you come up with a solution for a shorter shifter ? I'm on the same boat my builder is asking for a shorter shifter . what radiator did you go with ?
any updates on this thread? Im going to be looking for a donor car and was wondering if I should look for automatic or manual. I have heard both have their obstacles...
Ford in their infinite wisdom decided to use their own variant of the Tremic T56 and the T5 manual transmissions in the Mustang by moving the shifter from internal rail shifter to a throwback external linkage shifter rubber mounted to the floor pan in the rear. When the engine/transmission torques in the chassis it changes the shifter geometry, and not for the better. From what I am reading, this is a major complaint among performance Mustang owners: drag racers, autocrossers and road racers alike. My rail shifted T56 with short shifter kit shifts like a dream: click click click. I looked for a shifter kit for my friend's new 4.6 3V 5 speed mustang takeout that we are going to start installing in his F1 Sat. It has that same type external shifter. All the kits I found ( Ford Racing, Roush, Steeda etc, all used that very same mounting setup basically just tightening the pivots and stiffening the links. I'll be looking at his shifter with a critical eye during the install.
I ended up going with the TKO. As you can see in the photo the space between the cross braces was too small to fit the MK82 in place. As far as the MK82 shifter goes there are several people on the Factory Five Forum that have modified the shifter to shorter or change the location.
