Well, I think I'll pass on the previously mentioned '71 9000 with 8V71 Detroit, because I was just offered this 1980 9000 with 6-71 Detroit for half the price. This one actually runs, and drives, and won't be a nightmare to get to my house. I'll put the Pete 3.73 air leaf axle under this one, and mount the 53-56 body on it. This one has some bonuses too. It's got 4 good aluminum wheels, and a pair of aluminum tanks. It has a Jake, compound low range for Lo, and Reverse, and hi-lo 1-8. It's got lots of other goodies too. Yay, finally, a good donor frame, and drive train.....oh yeah, and heated mirrors...lol
Hey if you dont end up buying that one, let me know.. Ill buy it! Looks to be a pretty nice old louisville. Atleast the hood would fix mine..
Need the little fenders for the cab aswell. The one I put on there is too narrow, doest match the hood. Was off a gaspot loui. The step got ripped off the fuel tank as well. Hate it when steers blow. Then the impact gun broke the stud off the axle. It was rusty where it broke, so must have been cracked.

No way, it's mine.....lol. I can't pass it up. I've got a couple concepts in mind, and haven't quite decided whether it's a crewcab 53-56 I want, or one with a sleeper, but either way it'll 6-71/9 speed equipped. I won't be using the fuel tanks, as I'll switching to the cylindrical type. I won't need the body, and I'll switch the rear axle out for the air leaf equipped one.
Went down and bought it today. Fixed the air line to the transmission the guy accidentally melted, and threw some lights on the rear of it. Fired it up, and played around a bit, and while I was checking it out, I noticed a complimentary danged near full tank of fuel on the right side......heck, that's darn near $800 in itself. So, I rolled through DMV, picked up a trip permit, and will be taking a CDL equipped friend of mine (I would drive it myself, but ODOT, and the OSP have been crawling around like mad lately) with me in the morning to drive it home. I'll get it here, and start taking stuff off. Pretty soon, I'll start on a new thread for the build up of my '53 F-750 project.
