Did it romp (shake) on first start or just run rough?

You should still change the oil so you know the right stuff is in there.
i think it romped 1 time then smoothed out. not like it should be though. i can hear the difference in this truck and my old 1.
i pulled the dipstick and the oil is clean like new. ive burned about half a tank of fuel so that tells me the guy used the wrong oil. my old one the oil was black shortly after starting the truck up the first time. guess i know what im doing in the morning before that drive

Sounds like a plan. At least you will know the oil your using and it will rule in or rule out the oil as a problem.

Might not be THE problem, but could be involved. Have to wait and see. Like I said it has to be either ruled in or ruled out. The right oil is very important for oil driven injectors to work properly. The last thing you want to deal with is an unknown and at present what's in the crankase is an unknown. When I bought my truck used the first thing I did was change the oil for peace of mind if for nothing else.

I don't know for sure but like I said I have ran half a tank of fuel through the truck and the oil is clean. It is not dark at all so as soon as advance opens in the morning I will be there getting the oil and new filter. Maybe the good lord is on my side with this and it is the problem.

Subscribing. Sounds almost identical to the problem my 99 F350 is having.

Yes.

With the engine cold, Pull the valve covers, start it and watch the oil discharge ports. They should all flow about the same.

Could be, but I never get that lucky. It couldn't hurt to change it.

Why is it a problem that the oil is clean .......... Don`t say the oil is not wrong, but don't because it`s clean.
I always change all liquids (oil in axles, tranny, engine and coolant) when I got a new car. Just to bee shore it`s the right stuff.

I don`t think it will be any different with new oil. You will see that after half a tank of fuel.... the oil is still clean. It takes a wile for the engine to produce enough soot to get all that oil dirty. Especially if the oil has been changed short time ago.

That tells me that your engine is very dirty inside or/and you didn`t change all of the oil (filter and hpopreservoir).

I have just change the oil and oilfilter, and did emptying hpopres 3 times.
And now, after almost 1,5 fuel tank ..... oil is still clean. Not as new oil, but no problem to see through on the dipstick.

just changed the oil to rotella t 15w 40. havent driven it yet. it seems to idle slightly better though.
i ohmed my gp's 6 of them were from 11 to 13, 1 at 35, and 1 at 54. i just looked at the thread about the ohms here and see .6 up to 2 so im not sure if my meter is reading wrong or if they are all actually bad. im gonna ohm 1 of my new ones to see what it has. my meter is old and has been wet so just trying to look at all options.

Your meter may need a new battery.

You could have been off one range on the meter. That would give 6 good and 2 bad.
