From the clutch pedal bellcrank thru the floor to the Z bar is the clutch release rod (C1TZ-7521-A - 19 3/8" long), uses two nylon bushings (COAZ-7526-B - obsolete, 100's available NOS), one on either 90 degree end.
What happens to it: The bushings crack apart, the rods 90 degree ends begin to crack, eventually snap off.

Underneath the dash is the bracket the clutch and brake pedals suspend from. With a M/T, the brake pedal rides on the clutch pedals shaft, which is made as part of it.
There are four nylon bushings required: B7C-2461-A ~ Available from Ford / MSRP each: $2.50 / tousleyfordparts.com price each: $1.65.
That makes sense Broomfield, the clutch fork dosn't really move that much. I think that's what Im going to have to do. Im looking at new bushings now and inspecting everything else to see what is going to have to be done to get this thing working again.
Just a little update, I put the new longer push rod in and it worked great the first 3 times I pushed in the clutch. On the 4th time the clutch pedal twisted right off. Im not sure what Im going to do with that yet. But Im starting to remember why I let the thing sit for so long.
My rule when I do something is if I think it will cause an issue with the minor repair I am doing then I rebuild or replace it. Subsequently, I rarely do minor repairs. Example: I started out with what I thought was a steering column issue, and so I got a replacement column, and all new bushings, bearings spacers, and shift tube. Had the column blasted and painted, then found out I was wrong, it was the steering gear. So I removed it, and discovered the drag link and tie rods were worn out. In the end I replaced all the steering from the wheel to the wheels. But it all works great now!!
Check the Z bar bushings. They possibly left along with Elvis.
Garbz
Elvis is as dead as Julius Caesar. The Z bar bushings (C1AA-7543-A) are available from Ford and have been since 1961, fit all sorts of FoMoCo vehicles.
Dead as Julius Caesar = spoken by Sean Connery's character in the mostly fictional film "The Untouchables" also starring Kevin Costner as Elliott Ness & Robert DeNiro as Alfonso "Scarface" Capone.
Hollywood fiction examples: Frank Nitti was not pushed off a building by Ness or anyone else, he committed suicide in 1943. Ness and his 'Untouchables' were not involved in convicting Capone for tax fraud.
The Chicago "squad cars" of choice back then were 1927/32 V8 model L Lincoln Phaetons, not 4 banger Model A Fords.
There is one a these Lincolns in the film, but was driven by a hood during the bridge scene where Ness & the RCMP confiscated illegal liquor (more fiction: this never occurred either).
