Hi, I need to replace the clutch on my 1984 F250. It has a code letter "P" and the manual says that is a Warner T19 4 Speed. I can't find where it tells me the clutch size though. I am really new to this and I need to order the parts but I won't be installing it. I just need to know how I find out the clutch size. Thank you! T
It's most likely to be an 11" clutch, although some were 10".
I don't think there's a sure way of knowing until you have it out - even if the clutch was the original, which is highly unlikely.
All the transmissions used in these trucks had the same input shaft size & splining (1 1/16" & 10 splines), so that's not an issue.
As far as I know, our 1980-1986 trucks had flywheels predrilled for either the 10" or 11" clutch. In my family, a 1984 & 1986 F150 came with 10" and were "upgraded" to 11" when the clutch required replacement. The bolt size was different and that was all [easily handled]. The "kit" cost was about +$25 more for the 11".
I would think the F250 will likely already have the 11" size.
Thank you everyone! I went to O'Reilly and ordered the clutch today. It is the origional clutch in my truck. My truck has 15k origional miles on it. It's in really great condition. The previous owner towed it behind a motor home for a while until they just parked it. The motor has never been replaced and it purrs like a lion. I won't say kitten because she's louder than that. Other than the clutch being bad the only problem is a cracked dash and semi faded paint from sitting in the sun for years. But really thank you guys for your help!
That's the fewest miles I've heard of on one of these trucks. I'll bet it is in good shape. Get the clutch changed out and you'll be set to enjoy it for a long time.
