Installing DVD player
Installing DVD player
Hey, got a 2011 F250, zero audio upgrades (no XM, no sync, nothing, just factory bottom of the line CD deck, not even steering wheel controls) I have been looking at the new Pioneer AVH-P3400BH dvd player, and when I go to order it, i get the message...
To install this item, you need the following special part:
PAC's C2R-FRD1 radio replacement interface lets you replace the factory radio in select 2005-up Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles that use the MSCAN databus. You'll still be able to use factory features like Rear Seat Entertainment, Rear Seat Controls, and the THXII amplifier. Warranty: 1 year.
I dont think I do if i dont have any rear video, or steering wheel controls... correct? I think this is for higher end models with the need for the extra modules.
Any ideas?
PS, i was looking at Crutchfield, amazon has it about $60 cheaper, but Crutchfield comes with free shipping, free dash kit, free wiring harness, and free antenna adapter, I figured it would end up being about a $20 difference when its all said and done, and I trust Crutchfield to be there for help more than Amazon.

It doesn't sound like you'll need the PAC unit. I'd call Crutchfield just to be sure before ordering though.
Another great online car audio site you may want to check out is sonicelectronix. I've ordered plenty of stuff over the years and had zero issues. Highly recommend them.

I don't think you need it either, but like Dave said, call Crutchfield to confirm. It's the worst when you tear into a project and realize you don't have a key component that you normally can't get locally....
I called them, he said I 100% need it. I told him I do not have any sync, no steering wheel controls, nothing, he said I still need it for it work correctly.
Sounds like BS, but its $129, 50% off, and I have a $20 code, so it ends up being $45, i guess its not a deal breaker...

I hope I'm not too late ..... but, I don't think you will need it..
I have the base radio with sync , sat and single cd, the back of my radio has 3 plugs plus regular am/fm antenna. The 24 pin plug (big plug) were all the power and speaker wires, the yellow plug single wire is for sat radio and the other plug i think is a 16 pin has all the sync stuff. hope this helps.
Haha, actually already got it, and installed the radio. I must admit, it was a huge help. Not sure if just a cheapo wiring harness would have done the same thing, but between me and a friend, we had all the boxes opened, read all the instructions, pulled the dash and stock radio, and installed the new one, with routing a new mic for bluetooth, in less than 1 1/2 hours. It sure is a breeze in this truck.
