66 engine swap

Did 351 engine come in 64-66 ford f100 trucks from the factory? Will it bolt into a 66' that had a 352 in it?

Nope! Completely different engine families. And are you talking about a Windsor or a Cleveland or Modified? Depending on what transmission you have, there may be a bellhousing to bolt up to your trans, but that's a guess, and I don't have nearly enough info from you.

351M/400 = 1977/79 F100/350 / 1980/82 F150/350 / 1978/82 Bronco / 1975/79 Passenger Cars.

351W = 1981/96 F150/350 & Bronco.

Thanks, 351m came out of a 78 Bronco hoping it won't be to difficult to bolt into a 66' Ford pickup will bolt it to AOD or AODE tranny.

Note edited post above. No 351M or 400 came with AOD/AODE.

What Durant came with anything other than a flathead?

William Crapo "Billy" Durant, founder of General Motors. Started his own company in 1921, it went bankrupt in 1932.

I dunno what you call 'good mileage' but expect no more that 18 hwy w/o towing anything.

These trucks have the aerodynamics of a brick and so...there is really nothing you can do to improve MPG...regardless of how much money you spend.

The 351M is a smogged up terd that was very prone to cracking cylinder heads. The only place I'd install one is in a scrap pile.

66' engine swap

The Durant is a 1925 Durant coupester with a 1949 V/8 Full race naturally aspirated with a 95' S10 5 speed. we race it at the LTA/LSR World Speed Trials every year at Limestone Maine. Was planning a 460 engine but thought I'd get enough power and much better mileage. I realize the mileage is not going to be great. What tranny would you recommend? Thanks, for your input. Dan
