Anyone have a need for a Peterbilt air leaf axle? It's 3.73 geared, and complete minus one air bag. I gotta get rid of some stuff to make room for a'71 L9000 with Detroit 8V71/10spd I want to use under my '53-'55 F-750 body. I'll sell it cheap.
Does that louisville have the short hood or the long one? I could use a hood if its the short one used on LN trucks. My front steer exploded the other day on the highway and cracked the hood out on my dump truck. NOT COOL!
I'm gonna go look at it tomorrow, and take some pictures. If it's what you need, how much do you want to pay for it, if it's good.....I'll accept a cheap offer....lol
Well, I went and looked at it. It's not too bad. The batteries were dead, so I couldn't see it run, but it was obvious it was driven in. The engine was remarkably clean, and there were tons of good parts on it, plus the stuff I want. I don't like the rear ends, but I may run them anyhow. It's got a Detroit 8V71, with 2 stage Jakes. It's a ten speed Fuller type transmission. It's got a pair of what appear to be 75-100 gallon tanks. Missing a few tires, but that's ok. The cab was junk, but it had great looking doors, and a good hood. The hood isn't perfect/excellent, but it's in really good shape. The frame was surprisingly clean, and looked maintained, except the rear shackles on the front springs had the typical wear. The glass was all perfect, and it has a cb, stereo, and some mileage logging clock in it as well. It's got the controls still for the rear diff lockout, the rear air suspension, a trailer control handle on the column, and lots of other great parts. I think I'm gonna go for it.
That hood wont work for me. Thats a L truck. LN trucks have the back of the fender attached to the cab.
Ok. I just got turned on to another one, so I'll check it out tomorrow. The guy says it's very nice on the body, and he'll take less than the guy on the '71. I'll take pics, and let you know if it's the correct type. If so, same deal will apply.
