Hey guys i just bought my self a 2003 f250 6.0 which i was told was a 7.3...it was dark and i was tired....damn anyway ive heard that alot of things can go bad and i need to do an egr delete. i found one but im not sure how good or how bad it is
a scan gauge? and the 6.0 is a better engine? and the egr delete isnt a good thing?
Scangauge II is a inexpensive way to check the health of your motor. There is also an APP called Torque APP for android phones that will do the same. Also, edge Insight and there is an app coming out for iphones that are developing add ons for EGT and Fuel pressure.
Before you decide to do things to your motor, find out where it stands. You might want to go a little deeper and change oil coolers while you are doing the EGR delete. (which is ok)
As for the Air intake system, these trucks stock air filtering is great and you don't need to spend that money. Unless you are trying to go for very high Horse Power, say like 500+ hp.
ECT vs. EOT is a first step to making further decisions on which way to go.

Kits are all about the same. And just so you know, the 03 EGR coolers were the best made EGR coolers. They rarely fail. The major issue is the oil cooler getting plugged.
That's why you should find out where your motor stands on those temps. Heck, if your truck spread temp wise is below 10, you might not need to do anything for a while.
Although you are wanting to run tunes, you might think about ARP studs.

so i really just need the thing to see where i stand.
just so you guys know the truck has 80k miles on it
never was chipped
stock exhaust
was only used a little for pulling a mustang around
Keep the oem air filter. It flows way more air than you need and filters better than all the aftermarket options. Also, the intake is out the front of the header panel, so it already is a CAI.
