At a crossroads with My Excursion...

Hey all -
I'm kinda at a crossroads with my Excursion. I'm on the brink of some fairly costly maintenance type repairs (ball joins, tie rods, HPOP, etc) and have been thinking about making the leap back to a half ton. I like the look of the latest generation F-150 but the transmission slamming issue has me spooked to say the least. Is this something that Ford has worked out or are you guys still experiencing the hard shifts? Without having ever driven one I can tell you right now that shifts like the ones I've seen described here would drive me nuts. I love my Ex but @ 157k miles it may be time to part ways before she buries me!!

Get the 150, you'll thank yourself for it.

I sold my '05 EB Excursion & bought a used 2010 FX4 SCAB ... the F150 is better equipped AND it rides smoother.

Made the switch almost 2 years ago from a 6.0 KR CC, only AFTER it buried me to the tune of around 8k in one year. I say go for it, and I have no issues with my trans ( around 22k on it now). I do have an SCT X3 from 5 Star and it shifts awesome! I don't recall it shifting wierd before the X3 but maybe its just been that long? Good luck

My story is pretty much the same as Tim's.

Sold my 01 7.3 Excursion in Feb and bought my truck. I only have 2 kids and the EX was expensive to stay on top of. The 44 gallon fuel tank combined with diesel prices didn't make for an ideal commuter. I have zero regrets. Only time it will be missed is the once a year beach trip.

Left my 05 F350 6.0 (after floating the heads for a third time in 97K) for an 09 150 Screw. I still miss the diesel power every now and then, but the 150 has been a great truck. It will roll 100K before the end of April, most likely...
