Well,, in 2008, July to be exact, with 101,050 miles,, the original trans gave up the ghost,,, mind you, this is AFTER the flexplate/flywheel cracked and was replaced 2X under warranty by Ford,, the last time the tranny was re-installed,, the idiot mechanic did not line up the trans with the pins,, he just cranked her down,, and the tranny was on all cockeyed,, so it takes a dump,,, Ford says screw-off your over warranty,, ok so we put a reman Ford tranny in,, 3yr/100k so after 43k IT takes a crap,, 3yrs and 6mos,,, Ford says again, TS,, ,, so now,, we are having a Jasper tranny put in it has a 3yr/100k also,,, has anybody had a Jasper unit? The big pig "Wilber" has 144320 on it, and I DON'T want to put another trans in,, just needed to vent,,, I already told Ford,, I WILL NOT be buying another new Ford product,,

 

What exactly has happened to each trans? The Jasper units aren't terrible - they have a decent warranty in case something goes wrong. I just had the torque converter and front seal replaced on mine but that has been it. The previous owner apparently put a shift kit in according to the tech.

yup....after the first one went shouldve made the trip to one of the above mentioned.....living in cali im surpised you didnt make it to john woods shop...

 

now you can look at the 6R140 six-speed gearbox with double overdrive gears transmission and yes "you will be buying a new ford product "

I can always plead ignorance (I mean ALWAYS) ,,, I didn't look it up When it went in 08, I had to much other crap going on, and the wife needed the truck back on the road,,,
so what are BTS prices? That is another limiting factor,, I did price ATS,, about $4000 + 425 shipping + 500 install + 1750 core charge = 6675 and that was not in stone,,, I haven't put a tranny in yet,, where is BTS?

Brian at BTS is good, but you're hours away from one of the best 4R100 builders in the US. Call John Wood and pick his brain. Tell him you heard Stewart at FTE talked him up and said "You cannot go wrong by choosing a JW built trans" and he'll give you a free trans.

Need an east coast tranny shop. I think BTS is 900 miles from my house in NC. I have a JW valve body in mine and a Diesel site filter so hopefully it'll last a minute.

 

make the trip....youll be happy you did....or have one delivered to your local trans shop for install....
