I just priced the BTS - $4500 including torque converter + $1000 core +$325 one way shipping.
or you could drive there not pay a local shop for r&r and watch the build first hand up close and personal and get the 6.0 cooler installed while youre at it and not have to pay for a core....
A Jasper trans is just a rebuilt, stock type trans. Ok for normal use but if you are going to tow, go with a better trans if you want it to truly last. I had a Jasper in my Suburban since I just used it as a family vehicle and it was fine. It really depends on your use.
Ok,, well I talked to John @ John Woods,,, duh,, (Thanks Stew!) and I am on schedule to get one up here Wed. or so,,, !! I spoke with him and got ALL the warm fuzzies I needed,, hopefully should have it in and back on the road by Mon. or so,,, once that happens,,, I will report back!
Thanks again for all the input!
What's the price difference between a J.Wood and a Jasper Rebuilt unit ( or any other tranny ) ?
You cannot compare a John Wood built transmission, price or build or anything, to ANY other transmission (especially a Jasper) except a BTS trans, in my opinion.

Exactly - that's why I was wondering what the difference comes out to be going from putting in a rebuilt to top of the line
Ummm,,,, ALOT!! But,, I am going more for piece of mind more than anything,, I appreciated John's candor and knowledge of transmissions and what fails and that he addresses them with the correct way to fix things, and I felt better after talking to him than I had all week!!
I had spoken with a guy from jasper earlier in the week,,, no warm and fuzzies,, he was just a phone answerer guy,,, had no real knowledge of things,,
