I'm looking for a new to me, used Superduty and I've been wondering why Ford used two different types of side mirrors. Does it mean trucks with the smaller mirrors are not equipped with a tow package? Does anyone know why?
The mirrors on a truck don't mean anything. I have the smaller ones and still have tow package. I didn't like the looks of the bigger ones when I ordered my 99 so I got the small ones. Now after getting used to driving a work truck with the trailer tow mirrors, I am thinking about switching mine out.
Can the sport mirrors be easily changed to towing mirrors?
I went from paddle to heated and turn signal integraded...
Yes all these mirrors are easy as pie to change....
Most model are even pre wired for heat and turnsignals.
When I upgraded to the mirror heat option I had to get the HVAC control with the heat switch in it. Mine was all plug and play
Somebody correct me if wrong but my 99 didn't have option of heated mirrors so i don't think it is pre-wired. It is a XLT if that makes a difference. Thanks
You are correct my 99 XLT was not wired for heat or turn signal. Still was easy enough to add but was more labor intensive, just have to run a few more wires. I think the prewire stuff didn't come til 03 when they changed to the turn signal lights if i am correct.
