Well made a trip up to the shop to see how the working is going on my truck. I hired out a couple items and the guys is alomst done. I got him to do the all the foundation work on fitting the engine and tran, brakes and radiator support, new steering column etc...
I'm in the process of engine work. "96 Explorer 5.0 GT40. I was using a 351W but changed my mind. I need to gather some stuff. EFI Harness/Computer/ MAF sensor/etc. I may have some questions for you in the near future. Looks great!

I am ready for questions. I did the same swap into my son's 66 fastback. Pretty straight forward. My goal is to build this truck with parts you can pick up at your local parts store. That's why I am going with a stock intake. I may switch to GT40 Tublar in the future. Goal today is to get her running well in stock form. I do plan on deleting all the smog stuff and get a chip to cover those parameters.
Hey Isaiah,
Nice to see the progress! Refresh my memory - what engine are you going with? I envy the room you have in your engine bay - you have practically a straight shot with your steering column to your rack. Looking good. What MPG are you expecting from your EFI? I just paid over $4 a gallon this week for the first time in a while - ouch.

Ben in Austin
Ben,
Hello my friend! I am going with a 5.0 (302). Got the engine back as far as we could. The AOD fits up in there nicely. Yes I love the room that Paul was able to make for me. The build is pretty straight forward. I should have the truck back in my garage in a week to start the pain of wiring. I wanted to go with a 351w so bad but the 302 seems to fit just right without header clearance or exhaust issues. I will build a 331 with GT40 heads next year as a replacement. I got a motor out of 95 Cobra to use as my foundation. I have a roller 351w that I will save for 55 Ford Fairlane,,,
